Schedule

Wednesday, February 2

10:00 AM - “Northbound and Southbounder’s” Cruising Seminar at Rick’s Bar. This will be an informal gathering to obtain and exchange information for and between cruisers heading north into the Sea of Cortez for the summer and those going south toward Central America and the Panama Canal

6:00 PM - A “no host” Kick-Off Party at Rick’s Bar. At this time we will accept last minute registrations, provide complete event agendas, answer questions and have a good time meeting and getting to know a lot of great new people. At 7 PM there will be a Live Auction and at 9 PM the Raffle Drawing.

Thursday, February 3

9:00 AM - Cruiser Seminar presented by, and for, cruisers. Topics, speakers, and location TBA. Possibly a discussion on Winlink by Jim Corenman and on SSB by Shea Weston.

11:00 AM - Beach Party with games, beach volleyball, and more. There will be Children’s Grab Bag and we will hold a Raffle Drawing. MJ Ritchie’s at Playa Madera.

7:00 PM- Flare Shoot-Out. A chance for cruisers to set off their expired flares in an "organized" event at dusk in the middle of Zihuatanejo Bay.

Friday, February 4

12:00 Noon - Pursuit Race. An absolutely “NO STRESS” fun event which features a staggered start based on PHRF handicap that is designed to get everyone to finish about the same time. Complicated by two course choices (vessels will announce their choice of course at the first mark) and with prizes awarded for the first three AND last three finishers, this is going to be a lot of fun. If you don’t have a sailboat, see if you can hitch a ride.

4:00 PM - Afternoon and evening will be devoted to a Dingy Raft-Up and potluck appetizer party around and aboard one of the larger boats in the anchorage (possibly Profligate if here).

Saturday, February 5

10:00 AM - Dinghy Poker Chase. A fun event for the whole family. Figure out the clues to gather your poker hand from throughout the Bay and win prizes while getting to know others on the bay.

2:00 PM - Chili Cook-off and Street Fair. Teams compete for a possible prize and "bragging rights" where "Taster/Judges" vote to choose the Zihua Cook-off champion. In addition, local restaurants will be on hand with their specialties, which may be purchased to round out a great day of food and fun. Tickets for the chili tasting will be sold at the event. A Silent Auction will be held at 2 PM and a Raffle Drawing will be at 3:45 PM.

Sunday, February 6

11:00 AM - A Sail Parade, where we cajole everyone in the fleet to “dress ship,” get that anchor off the bottom and join in a procession around the Bay, up to Ixtapa to impress the tourists and return to Zihua. Last year we had nearly the entire fleet out for this parade and we expect to see an even better turn out this year. This year, participants are invited to take on additional “Crew” consisting of non-boaters that make a “donation” of MN$250.

4:00 PM - Wrap-up Barbecue, beach party, awards ceremony, auction and raffle. This year the final event will be held at MJ Ritchies – Playa Madera with a selection of food prepared by a variety of local restaurants offering house specialties for a modest price. The final Raffle Drawing will be held at 5:30 PM. There will be plenty of room for as many happy people as have the good sense to be here in the most beautiful bay on the Mexican mainland.

Throughout this entire event we will be selling raffle tickets for a huge lists of great prizes, all generously provided by local merchants. Last year we had everything from Spa treatments to parasail rides. This year's list will be even greater. Here is your chance to have fun and participate in a great charity in the process.
